The Pender Cottage

Nestled between the trees on the south shore of Pender Island, B.C., this 750sqft studio-cottage is both dwelling and workshop. Designed to engage the energies of the land by maintaining their utmost mystery: geology and light. Hidden between a spruce and a mighty oak, this darkly clad structure sits proud of the floor as to not make a sound on the sacred space in which it is nestled. A large oculus drinks sunlight into the artists studio, ever-changing with the incoming dappled light of the forest.

Ideally to be completed in the coming year, this simple, yet elegant, structure is meant to be a bastion on a beloved family's property for its current familial tenants, and their generations to come.
